Gaslight campground
#GASLIGHT CAMPGROUND HOW TO#
How to read the Good Sam Rating 10/10 /10. The three-number rating that accompanies each campground listing in the directory gives readers an at-a-glance assessment of a campground's amenities, cleanliness and environment. The office people were friendly inefficient but polite in any case.
#GASLIGHT CAMPGROUND CRACKER#
It's basically a step up from a Cracker Barrel parking lot, but only because they had hookups. There's plenty of land to make this park a 9 or 10 but it's obvious that maintenance is not in the forefront of the owners' mind.

I was too bummed to even try the bathrooms -if they were open. No way this is at that level no matter how clean they make it. I feel bad leaving this negative review but the ONLY reason we stayed one night was due to the 9 ranking in the Good Sam book. So glad they had me walk back instead of saying that on the phone. Then you had to pay a fee for it, but "It isn't very good and you'll not get on easily if at all(?). After calling out and ready to leave someone saw me waving and walked up to the building only to tell me (very politely), that you simply pull it up on your phone etc., and follow the instructions. Anyway, I walked back to find the office empty. There's a pretty messy apartment attached to the main office inside with dog urine on the floor next to the front desk. We were told we'd have to actually go back to the office because there were "special instructions".

There was ZERO paperwork or information provided. We called the office for WIFI info because we neglected to ask upon arrival. I was lucky to make it without hitting our neighbors class A. We could not pull out of our spot without cutting across a muddy strip between the lanes.
#GASLIGHT CAMPGROUND FULL#
Many (empty) full time trailers that are apparently seasonal, left in disarray with boards and cinderblocks in futile attempts to get them level. The sites are ridiculously uneven requiring blocks or lots of fiddling with jacks that can't manage the slopes. Fences around the grounds and garbage areas are falling down or broken and require paint etc. We didn't even have a picnic table but the sites are so narrow there wasn't room for one. The lanes going up into the grounds have spots you pull off into but are too narrow for two vehicles to pass, spots are on top of each other, and are not paved, maintained, or level. Upon arrival was told there was really only one spot we could use because the slides would hit a tree in the other(?) The place was nearly empty except for the full time unoccupied trailers.

It turns at that they really aren't pull throughs unless you plan on unhooking your toad and backing out. Granted we were early season (May) campers arriving in a 40' class A and were assured no reservation needed as "there's plenty of PULL THRU spots". On a scale of 1-10 this is about a 4 or 5 unless it's the only campground other than your back yard that you've ever visited. If you travel as we do from north to south and east to west you can't rate this one very high. I'm amazed at the older good reviews here.
